Meet a Berlin SAT Tutor: Carmen V.

Carmen V. was born in Lima, Peru, but moved to Miami with her family as a teen. Carmen had dreamed of becoming a professional artist and illustrator r since she was young. She worked very hard during high school, developing an impressive art portfolio in addition to chairing fundraising committees and serving as secretary of the student council. Her hard work, combined with a very high SAT score, earned Carmen a place at Rutgers University, where she chose to double major in art history and graphic design. Carmen worked as a tutor in the college's learning lab for four semesters, , and she was surprised to discover how much she enjoyed supporting others' learning.

After graduating from Rutgers, Carmen moved to New York, where she taught art classes at a local college while also working as a freelance artist. Carmen went on to obtain a master's degree in education from Barnard College, and when her sister accepted a job in Berlin, she invited Carmen to move with her. Carmen was ready for a new adventure, and after relocating, she obtained a position teaching art at an international school. She also joined the team at Manhattan Review, and students praise her helpful memorization techniques, as well as her time management tips. When she isn't helping the next generation of college students master the SAT, Carmen can be found completing crossword puzzles and visiting local beer gardens with friends after work.
